Food for the Guests not for the Pests

Food for the Guests not for the Pests

Guests coming over the holidays? That would be quite the lovely setting, but if you have any other guests such as pests, that might be pretty annoying.

Besides being annoying, some pests can also cause food contamination. Here’s what you can do for the food on your table or before you get food on your table.

Food left out anywhere could be a problem, whether it maybe freshly baked cookies or even pizza that got delivered at your door. Finished eating up those cookies and pizza? Well, crumbs might just go about anymore with every bite that you do, placing it on plates would also leave some pieces. Wash up any plates and utensils that may have been used after eating, don’t let it sit on your sink for too long. Crumbs may also fall on the floor so it’s best to get a vacuum, broom or a mop to clean your floor. If you can’t do it after every meal, you can at least do it on a regular basis.

Got any ingredients from the grocery that you aren’t in need of until later today or maybe the next day? You can store them into your refrigerator which will likely not only keep your vegetables and your fish fresh but also keep them away from the hands of pests.

Have any food or ingredients that don’t need to be put in the refrigerator but you can’t leave out open such as rice grains or even maybe some cereal and oatmeal? Store it in a hard container that doesn’t have any small openings, make sure that the container is secured so that the pests won’t reach into it.

Lastly, never forget to have your cleanliness in check especially for your kitchen and dining room. Being clean helps a lot if you don’t want pests as guests.
