How To Remove Ants In The Car Vents

Ants can go in easy wherever they want to, and once in there, they are hard to eliminate. That’s why it’s not impossible to see them at the car vets or inside vehicles. Resolve the problem immediately and effectively before they can do damage and cause serious problems.

Generally, ants are looking for food, water, and shelter. A couple of ants in the car does not pose a threat, and they may be just scouting for food. If more than that is present, there must be food or snacks hidden inside or a leftover.

The moisture coming from the car vents attracts ants, too. There are many types of ants, and they are not only after food but shelter. A damp and dirty wall vent is appealing to them.

Ants are also attracted to the structure of a vehicle because it is weatherproof, and the presence of wires and insulation that gives warmth is perfect for them to build a nest. Aside from protection from the weather, with its built, they may see it as a protection from predators.

Possible Danger Ants May Cause

Some ants bite and sting that may cause severe pain and discomfort that even last for days. The tiny ants that crawl in the body, even if they don’t sting, they cause discomfort. Sometimes even they are removed already, it still feels they are still all over the body.

Having ants in the car is very dangerous. They can distract, bite, and sting while driving. They may even get inside the ears and imagine the accident it may cause.

If ants invaded the electrical system of the car, it causes damage to the vehicle. They are attracted to relays, wiring insulations, and switches, and repair of these components is costly.

How To Remove Ants In The Car

If there are ants in the car vents, they could be anywhere else. Inspect the interiors and exteriors of the car for possible ants infestation.

Clean the walls of the vent using soap and water, then dry it with a clean cloth. Ants may get to the car vent system through the cabin air filter, so check and change the filter. Use the vacuum to clean. Remove and inspect blower motor for ants nest.

Try reparking the car in a different location. There maybe ant nests present at the old parking slot.

Take all the trash inside and trashes that are in the glove compartment. Take out all cups, water bottles, condiments sachets, among all others. Then vacuum thoroughly using a powerful portable vacuum cleaner equipped with different nozzles and accessories for better clean out of various corners of the car interior efficiently. When vacuuming, pay attention to the cracks of the seat, air vents, under floor mats, underneath seats, and the car’s trunk, too. Then wash and clean the vehicle from the outside.

Remove car carpets and seat covers and wash them separately.

Spray chemical pesticides on the car tires after washing to get rid of the remaining ants and prevent others from getting into the car.

Treat the car for overall shampooing and cleaning. It will eliminate the smell that attracts ants.

If to use a pesticide, several options are made specifically for ants in the car. Ant traps, ant fogger, and ant spray are also available.

How To Prevent Ants In The Car

Check AC ducts if properly sealed, and use insulation to prevent excessive moisture.

Avoid parking near trees, shrubs, and grass-filled areas. There may be ant hills around, or this may be an area that ants like to hang around.

Clean the car regularly and thoroughly, especially if it is hard to avoid eating inside. If there are spills on the chair, wash it immediately. Remove any old food bags and food trash when done with it.
